How to plan Bagless Days in the Vidyalaya?

Learning Beyond the Classroom

The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 promotes Bagless Days to provide students with joyful, experiential, and skill-based learning opportunities beyond traditional classroom teaching. These activities help learners connect academic concepts with real-life experiences while developing creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and vocational skills.

Annual 10 Bagless Days Activity Plan

Day-wise Activity Plan

DayActivityObjective
Day 1Bring Your Own Bag (BYOB) DayEncourage everyone to carry a reusable cloth or jute bag instead of plastic bags, Machine Learning Image Classification, Build or demonstrate a simple AI model that classifies plastic bags and reusable bags from images.
Day 2IoT Smart Dustbin Demonstration Showcase a smart dustbin that automatically opens or monitors waste levels using sensors.
Day 3Slogan Writing CompetitionInspire students to create catchy slogans promoting a plastic-free environment, Generate and compare eco-friendly slogans using AI tools, then vote for the best one.
Day 4Drawing and Coloring CompetitionExpress ideas about reducing plastic pollution through art.
Day 5Tree Plantation DrivePlant trees to promote environmental conservation and connect it with reducing plastic waste.
Day 6Debate CompetitionTopic: “Should Single-Use Plastic Bags Be Completely Banned?” Encourage critical thinking and discussion.
Day 7Waste AuditRecord and analyze the number of plastic bags used or collected in the school/community and discuss ways to reduce them.
Day 8Robotics Innovation Challenge Design or build a prototype robot that could help collect or separate plastic waste.
Day 9AI Debate – “Can AI and Robotics Solve the Plastic Pollution Crisis?”Explore the role of emerging technologies in environmental protection.
Day 10AI Innovation Showcase & Green Technology ExhibitionPresent AI models, robotics projects, smart bins, and eco-friendly innovations, followed by a Bagless Day pledge.

Bagless Days may be conducted after the completion of Periodic Tests, Half-Yearly Examinations to ensure uninterrupted academic progress. Additionally, Bagless Days can also be organized on the last Saturday of every month, depending on the convenience and academic schedule of the Vidyalaya. This flexible approach enables schools to provide students with experiential, skill-based, and joyful learning opportunities without affecting regular classroom teaching.
